Dr Gillian Meyer
Dr Gillian Meyer BSc (Med) MBBS FRACP Clin Dip PallCare is an Australian trained Specialist Geriatrician. She is the clinical lead in the GEM unit at Mona Vale Hospital, is a consultant Geriatrician at the Northern Beaches Hospital, has a private clinic in Frenchs Forest and does weekly community home visits in the Northern Beaches area. She has a special interest in caring for the frail elderly, and community geriatric medicine.
Dr Meyer graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Science (Medicine)/Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (BSc(Med)MBBS) in 2007. She undertook her internal medicine training at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick and went on to complete specialty training in Geriatric Medicine in tertiary and metropolitan hospitals across Sydney. Her training has allowed Dr Meyer to gain experience in all facets of Geriatric Medicine.
Dr Meyer has completed a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine to further complement her work in caring for her patients during their most vulnerable time as well as providing support for their carers. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine. She is a dedicated teacher, involved in and awarded for teaching of medical students from UNSW as well doctors in training. She is warm and caring, and practices holistic and patient-focused medicine.
Dr Jennifer McMeniman
Dr Jennifer McMeniman BMed (Hons) FRACP MMed (ClinEpi) is a consultant Geriatrician at the Northern Beaches Hospital, with a practice focusing on both acute and community care, and a particular interest in the care of patients in Residential Aged Care Facilities. She is also involved in telehealth services for regional and remote patients across Western New South Wales.
Dr McMeniman graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Medicine in 2003. She undertook her internal medicine, and subspeciality training in Geriatric Medicine, at Westmead and Concord Hospitals. In recent years, Dr McMeniman has completed a Master of Medicine (in the area of clinical epidemiology) at the University of Sydney, to further her skills and interest in research and evidence based medicine. She is also actively involved in teaching, from medical students to senior doctors in training. Dr McMeniman is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine.
Dr McMeniman has expertise in managing cognitive impairment, from early changes to advanced dementia, falls and mobility issues and complex health conditions. Dr McMeniman is dedicated to providing holistic and patient-centred care, prioritising healthy ageing and an individualised approach to management.
